Cora Bellotto: “RETOLD STORIES”

Italian designer Cora Bellotto is based in Italy and graduated with honors from NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts. Her graduate collection got featured in Italian Vogue Talents Issue 2011. Through working as an assistant designer for Marina Spadafora (creative director of the ethical and social brand Cangiari), Cora has developed a professional career now aiming to establish her own brand, corabellotto, after finishing her MA at Domus Academy.

As a designer Cora draws inspiration from literature, music and art from all over the world. Her style is rich and conceptual and she always seeks to research new materials and shapes. Her collection RETOLD STORIES is inspired by African contemporary art, especially by three artists: Romuald Hazoumè, Gerard Quenum and Dilomprizulike. Each piece in her collection has a distinct character sharing characteristics of the modern juju spirits, appearing in frontality, symmetry and simplicity. Generally, the collection is a tribute to the voodoo culture; reign of spirits and silence in contrast with, raw vitality and theatricality of a human body.
